Did atlantis exist??????????????

The legend itself is probably just fictional, however it may have been based on the destruction of the Minoan civilization. They lived primarily on islands and were taken out by one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history. It utterly destroyed several of their cities and supposedly blew one island (the one the volcano was actually on) right out of the water. They were also highly advanced compared to other people at the time so they fit the Atlantis legend perfectly.
