Need help with Microsoft Excel?

I want an account of my daily spending in an excel sheet. I tabulate it daily but now I want to classify my spending according to the type of item like food, toiletries, stationery etc. Can I do that in excel. Suppose my entry in sheet 1 is date-item-amount, (say 18th--- Dinner in Canteen---50, in a row), and i add another flag in the same row(say 1 for food), can I transfer the date and amount in a separate sheet in the same book, without having to write it again?
