If you interact with the locals chances are you'll make new friends and you'll find out where the best restaurants and deals are. You will eat and drink far better for less. If you do it right you can easily spend two to three weeks for less than what it would normally cost you for one. Big-resorts will draw you in with special offers but in the end more times then not they make it up with other hidden costs.
